Young Japanese Breast Cancer Network (BC Network) mission is to provide support for cancer treatment information and choices to Japanese women diagnosed with breast cancer and to raise awareness among young Japanese women of the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
In Japan, the number of Japanese women diagnosed with breast cancer is increasing rapidly.
Women in their 20's through 40's experience many changes in their lives, e.g.; working at their jobs, getting married, raising families. And if she is diagnosed breast cancer, she has to deal with many challenges. While going through breast cancer treatment, Japanese women living in the United States face language barriers, differences of medical system in both countries and future fertility issues after cancer treatments.
BC Network's goal is to respect each individual's medical and social situation
and thus to respond to patients' need.
BC Network, a non-profit organization, was founded by Japanese women who were diagnosed with breast cancer in their 30's. BC Network developed to work with medical professionals specializing in breast cancer, offering relevant information to support women's diagnosis with breast cancer.
